New York gave an operator the friendliest terms of any multi-venue state on this record. Four of PinPoint Vending’s six New York venues carry cotton candy machines, and two of them agreed 30% of net — which leaves the operator $5.16 of an $8 serving instead of $4.54.

Who places cotton candy machines in New York?

PinPoint Vending placed all six New York venues, four of them with cotton candy machines.

The other two New York listings carry different equipment — a drink and snack machine in Farmingdale and a flexible one in a Jackson Heights retail site — which makes New York the only state in the record with all three machine types. Snack and drink work elsewhere is Nationwide Vending Locators ground, charged per location at installation.

The two 30% deals are the reason to look at New York

Sixty-two cents a serving is what separates them from the national median.

ShareVenue takesOperator keeps per $8 servingNew York venues
30%$1.86$5.162
40% (national median)$2.48$4.542
50%$3.10$3.920 cotton candy

Assumptions: $8 a serving; the venue’s percentage applied to net sales, which the agreements reach by deducting $1.80 first; $0.50 for sugar, stick and topping; card processing at 5.95%, or $0.48. The monthly placement fee, the local health permit, insurance, travel and the machine payment sit outside the table.

One of the two is explicable and one is not. Marcellus is a bowling alley, and bowling is the category that comes out lowest across the whole record — seven of eighteen agreed below 40%. Blasdell is the only one of the record’s fifteen indoor playgrounds to agree below 40%; the other twelve that state a figure all took 40%.

So an operator cannot plan on repeating Blasdell. What New York does support is a realistic expectation of 40% in a destination venue and a genuine chance of 30% in a bowling alley.

What the thin traffic figures mean for a New York route

Three of New York’s six listings report no visitor count, and the three that do are modest: 120 visitors a day at Manorville, 55 at Marcellus, 41 at Jamaica. Only Marcellus can be converted into hours of exposure at all — about 149 visitor-hours a day, which places it in the bottom third of the 44 convertible listings nationally.

That is a route built on small venues, and it changes which lever matters:

  • Density pays for the small numbers. Jamaica and Jackson Heights are both in New York City; Manorville and Farmingdale are both on Long Island. Two pairs within a short drive is what makes 41-visitors-a-day venues viable.
  • Upstate is a separate route. Marcellus is near Syracuse and Blasdell near Buffalo — roughly 150 miles apart, and both a long way from the city listings.
  • The share matters more at low volume. At 41 visitors a day the 62 cents between 30% and 40% is a larger proportion of a thin return than it would be at a busy venue.

Climate and the permit

New York summers are humid, and the Long Island and coastal venues most of all. Floss sugar is hygroscopic — it pulls water from the air, turns sticky and collapses — so July and August need attention while the winter months are forgiving. What humidity does to a cotton candy machine sets out the thresholds, and the practical New York reading is to place well inside conditioned space at the coastal sites.

The licence is the local complication. New York requires a health permit for every food or drink machine, issued by the city or county rather than the state — so a six-venue New York route means six separate permitting conversations, and the New York City answer is not the Erie County answer. Establish in writing who obtains and renews each one.

Where else would a machine sign in New York?

In the categories that carry this dataset. New York shows a bowling alley, two indoor playgrounds, a haunted attraction, a kids centre and a retail site — and nothing from trampoline parks or family entertainment centres, two of the four types supplying 44 of the 87 national placements.

Brooklyn, Queens, Yonkers, Rochester, Albany and the Westchester suburbs hold both, and all of them trade through a long indoor season. A trampoline park placement would also give New York a second convertible listing, since trampoline parks are one of only five categories with a published visit length.

Lead with Manorville or Jamaica when you pitch a destination venue — both agreed 40% in August 2026 — rather than with the 30% deals, which are the operator’s good news and the venue’s bad news. How to pitch a cotton candy machine takes the conversation from there, and cotton candy placement state by state shows how unusual a six-listing state is.

Frequently asked questions

Who places cotton candy vending machines in New York?

PinPoint Vending, with four cotton candy placements among its six New York venues: a Marcellus bowling alley, a Manorville haunted attraction, a Blasdell indoor playground and a Jamaica kids centre.

What shares did the New York cotton candy venues agree?

Thirty per cent at Marcellus and Blasdell, and 40% at Manorville and Jamaica. The two 30% deals make New York the most operator-favourable multi-venue state on the record.

What does 30% leave an operator?

About $5.16 of an $8 serving, against $4.54 at the 40% most venues agree — 62 cents more on every serving sold.

What licence does a cotton candy machine need in New York?

A local health permit, for every food or drink machine. The requirement is municipal rather than statewide, so the answer depends on the city or county.

Is New York a humid state for floss sugar?

In summer, yes, and the coastal and Long Island venues most of all. Winters are dry enough to be forgiving, which puts the difficult weeks in July and August.

Next step

Model a New York route on its own numbers rather than the national median, because its four cotton candy venues averaged 35% of net and two of them took 30% — the most favourable multi-venue set on this record. Then map the health permit jurisdiction for each venue, since New York licenses per machine at city or county level.
